As long as I create...I am!

I love art, I love everything about it and the feeling you get when the masterpiece is complete. It often feels like it is easier to cut and paste little cut outs from magazines than putting the puzzles of your life in the correct way.

The thing about art is there is no right or wrong, instead it is the inspiration that you get, the feeling of creating something which describes You.

A work of art is the unique result of a unique temperament. Oscar Wilde

Loneliness exposed

There are moments in everyone’s life when they start thinking about their present, wondering about their future and whether the past events, situations and mistakes would mark the road to the future. And there comes a moment that, although you want to believe and you desperately want to be positive and optimistic, there are days that you just wonder….am I really alone? Is the human being really created to deal with everything by himself? And when you ask yourself a question, a simple one…how can I possibly be alone when I am surrounded by so many people? Then you start asking yourself, is it me or is it just the human mind? Or perhaps it is just a simple reality that is right in front of us and we for some reason do not see or want to see. But then comes another thought…love does exist in peoples’ lives and the best place to see it is at the airport. You see people coming, going, crying , lighting up with happiness the moment their loved ones come out of the sliding doors. I have always found airports a great place to feel this love, to observe, to discover. It is a place that combines so much energy, movement and excitement. And then you ask yourself, will people ever stop hoping and searching and above all believing in Love? No matter how much we deny it, even the strongest people and the harshest men, are all still weak at heart. Everyone has their secret weak spot, and there is always that someone who has taken away your belief, one way or another we have all been victims of love.
“To disbelieve is easy; to scoff is simple; to have faith is harder.” Louis L’Amour

A charity fundraising Fashion Show at Alpine College dazzles the crowd!

Tuesday 19 January 2010—On Saturday 16 January, students enrolled on the Events & Conventions Management course at Alpine College demonstrated their management, leadership and transferable skills by organising an outstanding charity fundraising Fashion Show at Alpine’s campus in Glyfada. Led by a student enrolled on the Master’s programme in International Hospitality & Tourism Leadership, the event demonstrated true leadership and commitment to excellence, coupled with a community spirit, as the proceeds of the evening were given to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, a non-profit organisation that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
The event, styled as a beauty contest, was very well attended by students, staff, industry professionals, media and sponsors. Seven Alpine students were the contestants for Miss Alpine 2010. They modeled designer clothes, courtesy of Style Studio boutique, owned and managed by an Alpine graduate.

The gold sponsor for the event was Interamerican Athens Branch. Not only did Interamerican present Miss Alpine with a laptop computer as the first prize, but they also contributed to the cost of the event and lavished all the ladies in attendance with an attractive commemorative T-shirt carrying the event’s name. Over 15 prizes for all contestants were sponsored by various other companies including Bravo Travel, Ledra Marriott, The DMC, Urbane Group, MVS Esthetic Dentistry, Jewels & Jems, Andro-Mitsi & Lefti, all of which actively support Alpine, not least in its effort to raise money for charity.

“At Alpine we learn how to put all the pieces together and manage events and projects that make a difference”, said Elena Sergeeva, the leader of the team, adding: “I have always volunteered to help those that are not privileged and I was able to show students that we can always direct our energy—while having fun—to good causes”. Alpine’s President Mrs Sybil Hofmann commended Ms Sergeeva’s vision and efforts and the team’s excellent results, noting that the event was not simply a beauty contest but an opportunity for all the students involved to learn about both management and charitable causes, and to demonstrate organisational ability, professional attitude and character – a combination epitomized expertly in Alpine’s principles and practice.
The fashion show was followed by a very upbeat party with famous DJ Nikos Alatas. For pictures and videos of the event please visit Alpine’s News and Events website at . For more information on upcoming events and Alpine’s programmes, please contact Alpine at or call 210 8983022.
